12.04.07 > BUELL'S CCS & ASRA SUPPORT CONFIRMED FOR 2008 <

Buell

Buell's contingency commitment to our CCS and ASRA riders for next year's season is once again outstanding! Eligible riders competing on specific Buell motorcycles in our ASRA Pro ThunderBike, ASRA Pro SuperStock, ASRA Pro SuperBike, CCS ThunderBike, Heavyweight SuperBike, and SuperTwins classes will be rewarded with over $450,000 in contingency money.

Cash contingencies will be posted at every ASRA Pro Series event and every CCS regional event - with no minimum grid size requirement. Remember that you must register with Buell once per year and turn in our standard CCS and/or ASRA contingency claim forms each weekend to be eligible to receive the contingencies.

Details of the amounts per class and per finish rank can be found on the 2008 Buell Registration Form, which has also been posted on our 2008 Forms Page.

For more information, visit the Buell Racing Support Page.

5.18.07 > MICHELIN CONTINGENCY CLAIM PROCEDURES CHANGE <

MichelinEffective June 1st, riders will no longer be required to complete a separate Michelin paper form every weekend to claim their contingencies. (Please throw away all existing paper forms).

All riders must register online with Michelin after June 1. Your claims will be filed with Michelin by our office along with other sponsors listed on your CCS/ASRA/TC Contingency Claim forms (completed in Tech).

We are working with other sponsors to reduce the amount of paperwork needed during the Tech process and will announce changes here when accomplished.

4.17.07 > YAMAHA YZF600 R6 AIRBOX ISSUE IN SUPERSPORT <

It has come to my attention that we have a special issue with the air-filter on 2006 and 2007 Yamaha YZF600 R6s. These models have a plastic assembly built into the lower portion of the filter from the factory that restricts the air intake. This plastic assembly is considered part of the airbox when the filter is properly fitted into place and must be intact to pass SuperSport inspection.

2007 Rulebook - 6.1.2.D. Original equipment air box must remain as produced. Air filters must be used but may be Aftermarket units. Aftermarket air filters are restricted to units available via normal commercial channels and designed for that specific model machine. Aftermarket air filter units that replace part of the OEM. airbox are required to maintain the original size and number of air inlet openings as the stock unit.

As of this time, I have been informed the K&N filter does not have that assembly while BMC is making a street/stock replacement and a race version. The race version is not SuperSport legal while the street/stock version must have the plastic assembly installed to be legal which is a removable piece.

If anyone finds information to contradict or expound on this information, please forward the findings to me so that we can get the word out to the other inspectors. We are attempting to have a mold made that will be similar to the 1st generation SV650 air filter go - no go gauge.

Cathy Lile, Track Registration official with AHRMA, requested that we post this important information for all CCS/ASRA riders who wish to participate in their Daytona races March 5th & 6th after our weekend there.

Since there will be no Post Entry at the track, the Pre-Entry Deadline is Feb. 4th, and you must already have a current AHRMA racing license and AMA membership before you pre-enter, timing is critical if you wish to participate.
